AN AMERICAN FELL IN LOVE WITH A SOUTH AFRICAN

WARNING: THIS IS A SAPPY POST. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Okay, so I bet you're wondering why on earth I'm going to talk about the not-so-exciting lives of John and I. Well, this Saturday we are celebrating our THREE YEAR ANNIVERSARY (how crazy is that?) and I wanted to share our story.

It feels like just yesterday that I was moving into my first college dorm and not even looking or thinking about getting a boyfriend. Now here we are. I'm a senior in college and deeply in love.

It all started with a college acceptance letter. I didn't get into my dream school but boy was I lucky. If I would've gotten accepted to Texas A&M University, I wouldn't have met John and I wouldn't be where or who I am today.

John and I officially met on Twitter. I know laugh it up, but I know of plenty of couples who are thriving that actually met online. For some reason I used to be ashamed of this and would tell people we met at a party, but it's worked out so well I don't care who knows.

The funniest part about us meeting was the fact that I agreed to meet him solely because I wanted to hear his accent. I mean, other countries have cool accents so I wanted to hear one in person. Sounds reasonable right? Well, it was game over once he opened his mouth!

Our first year together was pretty tough but we persevered and now we couldn't be happier.

I don't think falling in love with someone is easy and I honestly don't believe in love at first sight. It takes time to see who someone truly is, which is what you end up falling in love with.

I fell in love with John because...

1. he dances like a goof just to make me smile
2. he says I'm cute even when I'm sick and sassy
3. he pretends to like all of my interests even when he doesn't
4. he cheers me on whenever I'm stressed
5. he makes me the happiest girl in the world
6. he watches movies he hates just to see me smile
7. he lets me eat whatever I want when I get grumpy while trying to diet
8. he defends me no matter what
9. he rubs my feet and draws me baths
10. he doesn't judge me

So John, this post is for you. I love you and happy ALMOST three year anniverary!
