BLOGTOBER DAY 10: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES MAKEUP TUTORIAL

Saturday, October 24, 2015

It's time for another Halloween makeup tutorial! This tutorial was inspired by the vampires in the hit CW show, The Vampire Diaries. While watching the show and other tutorials of people inspired by this look, I knew I wanted to try it!

My friend Cassidy volunteered to have her makeup done which ended up in a night full of laughter and shenanigans. So here's my rendition of a Vampire Diaries inspired makeup.

I started off by applying my Too Faced Born This Way foundation in "Vanilla". I then contoured her face with a gray shade from the BHCosmetics eyeshadow pallet.

Next I started on her eyes. The eyes for this look are the most important part so it took me a little more time than usual. First, I primed Cassidy's eyelids with the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I then applied a reddish maroon shade to the corner and crease of her eyelid and applied a shimmery shade of black to the majority of the lid, then blended it out. I also applied the maroon shade under her eyes and blended it down.

I added a simple winged eyeliner look with Essence's Liquid Ink eyeliner in black, some mascara with Benefit's Bad Gal Lash Mascara in black, and filled in her eyebrows with Rimmell London's Professional Eyebrow Pencil in dark brown.
Next it was time to start on the hard part. In The Vampire Diaries, the vampires have veins that run underneath their eyes, so I want to incorporate that with this look. I first used the NYX Slide On Pencil in "pure white" to draw out the veins. This part was pretty fun because you could go a little crazy with it. I, myself, wished I made them a bit shorter in length but I still really like the way it came out in the end!
To make the veins more realistic, I outlined the white with maroon and dark purple eyeshadow from the BHCosmetic pallet. At that point in time, the veins still looked drawn on so I patted a nude powder on top. I didn't realize the powder had shimmer in it but it still made the veins look great and bruised (with just a touch of girly shine).
The last couple of steps were easy, but necessary. I applied a mixture of the Rimmell London Kate Moss Lipstick in the shade 107 and Milani Lipstick in "Sangria" to her lips and added some vampire fangs available at any local Halloween store near you. And if I'm being completely honest, they were so hard to put on and kept falling out (which is why she's holding them in with her hands in the photo at the beginning of the post haha)
And there you go! That was my version of a vampire's makeup! If you do decide to go as a vampire this Halloween, hopefully this inspired you to stray away from the typical blood dripping down from the mouth and venture out into some unique!
P.S. 1 more week until Halloween and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DAD!!!
