Summer is the time where it's all about fun in the sun, friends, and no worries. It's a time to sleep in and stay up late, all while making incredibly, crazy memories. My case, however, is a bit different. My summer has turned into non-stop studying and working, all on top of trying to find minimal time for myself. With that being said, it may explain my M.I.A. status lately (which I completely apologize for)! Heck, I'm even writing this post during my study break for an exam, so that must say something!

Living by the beach seems like a dream for the summer season, but with a schedule like mine, I rarely get to see it. It seems so close yet so far away. On my rare days off, I try to go (even if it's just to look at the water) but sometimes it doesn't seem to work out. I either have school work to do or I'm way too tired and end up falling asleep for the rest of the day.

But it's not all doom and gloom. Although the class I'm taking is extremely hard, it's so interesting. I'm learning about ethics and how morality can influence your life and tough decisions. Every time I'm in class, the lyrics to Bon Iver's Skinny Love comes into mind.

And I told you to be patient
And I told you to be fine
And I told you to be balanced
And I told you to be kind

One must have all of these characteristics to make a moral decision, no matter how hard or controversial the topic may be. This class has allowed me to open my mind, express my opinions on issues, and not criticize the opinions of others.

My summer may not be the typical dream summer, but it has been one that I will cherish forever due to all of the lessons I have learned, whether that be from a textbook or experience. However, the summer isn't over yet. In fact, it has just begun. My trip to South Africa is a month away, so be prepared for many blog posts to come! (Plus I have already planned a large amount of future blog posts, so be on the look out for that!) I hope y'all's summer has (so far) turned out to be a great one and always remember, be patient, fine, balanced, and kind.
