SAN ANTONIO|COLLEGE STATION

Sunday, November 30, 2014

A break from reality is what most of us need from time to time and that's exactly what I got. A week off from classes (fully knowing I would be slammed with homework once I got back), visiting with old friends, and two trips with my loved ones is what my "mini vacation" consisted of. And let me tell you, that's exactly what I needed.

Coming back to a dearly missed hometown is probably the best refresher any college girl needs after months of no money, fast food, and dirty clothes. With a little love and a lot of home cooked meals, the sorrows and stress of school simply seem to vanish.

As I watch my worries pass through my rear view mirror, I head towards the first stop of my trip: Downtown San Antonio.

(Right now I feel obligated to include a Vanessa Carlton reference and I'm completely okay with that!)
~Making my way downtown, walking fast, faces pass, and I'm homebound~

After a two and a half hour drive, filled with road trip games and our favorite playlists, my boyfriend and I arrived to a warm greeting from my little brother, who was conveniently on a sugar-high. Getting a hotel thirty minutes away from our house allowed us an easy "get-a-way" from everyday life. The view from our balcony truly added a new sense of the holiday feel by the crisp air and lights hung all over.

Before leaving for my next destination, I spent the entire day in search of my next read, Girl Online by Zoe Sugg (aka my favorite blogger/Youtuber). After what seemed like an endless amount of torture for my boyfriend and many stops later, I finally found it! I plan on writing a review on the novel as soon as I finish reading it, SO STAY TUNED FOR THAT!

Once my adventure in San Antonio came to an end, it was time to conquer the road to College Station.
The drive to College Station was an adventure in itself. From amazing scenery to getting some of my hair chopped off with a knife. Although it was just a strand, let me explain so there's no need to freak out.

It was getting to that point in a road trip where the drowsiness began to overcome me. I laid down for not even one minute and kaboom! my boyfriend drops his gum in my hair. How embarrassing! Although hair isn't my biggest priority, meaning I actually never style it, I was still mortified that I had to cut the gum out. All is well and my hair looks normal.

Once that fiasco faded away, it was time for the real reason for the trip. The Thanksgiving Texas A&M University Aggies vs Louisiana State University Tigers football game! This was the game I've been looking forward to since August! And it's was definitely worth the wait. Although the Aggies lost by six, the seven hour tailgate and the company I was with made it all worth it.

As soon as my many adventures slowly came to an end, I realized all the responsibilities I left behind would chew me up and spit me out. So this is how I end my much needed vacation, cramming in a great deal of work and studying until my eyes bleed.

After this week off from stress, I have realized how much I am truly thankful for. It sure does beat what's about to come next:
death by finals!
